Located around DBS’s storage barns in Copenhagen, Shiso Studio was asked to develop a sensory landscape and landscape strategy for BaneGaarden ApS. Our concept is simple: we are observing nature to then design for nature. Since the spring of 2019 we have been monitoring and observing the changes of the site to inform our design decision, which is grounded in the site’s ecology.

Our goal is to create a landscape laboratory, producing an exchange between the cultural, agricultural, and natural landscape. In doing so, we will focus on biodiversity, holistic planting principles, knowledge generation, edible nature, and planting experimentation to create a complete sensory experience – linking food + landscape with education.
